QuickBooks FAQs
Will QuickBooks Commerce no longer be available?
As of August 31, 2023, QuickBooks Commerce – formerly known as TradeGecko – will be discontinued. This means that anyone who relies on QuickBooks Commerce for eCommerce inventory management will need to seek an alternative and may lose all their historic data.
Is QuickBooks Online the same as QuickBooks Commerce?
QuickBooks Commerce and QuickBooks Online are different systems under the same company. QuickBooks Online is a cloud-based accounting software designed for bookkeeping and payroll activities. QuickBooks Commerce, formerly known as TradeGecko, is an eCommerce inventory module that will be discontinued on August 31, 2023.
What happened to QuickBooks Commerce?
After acquiring TradeGecko, software vendor Intuit rebranded the company as QuickBooks Commerce: a standalone eCommerce inventory management tool for QuickBooks users. Shortly after, Intuit decided to discontinue QuickBooks Commerce as a separate tool, meaning it was only available to QuickBooks Online users as part of a bundle.
A couple of months later, Intuit once again decided to sunset QuickBooks Commerce – this time for all non-US users.
Finally, they decided to scrap QuickBooks Commerce altogether.
While Intuit have stated that it will become a part of QuickBooks Online, roughly 80% of the features will be lost. The software will become an eCommerce accounting tool with limited inventory features.
